"WHO: Women's health an 'urgent priority'"

This is so disconcerting, because with all the progress that has been made for equality between the sexes in our modern society, still so much discrimination against women exists on this planet. Because luckily I do not live in a country where I am abused or considered second rate due to my gender (though don't get me wrong, this country still has it's problems with that as well, just not nearly so severe as other places around the world), I have a hard time comprehending the reasoning behind such actions. Then I hear that because girls are girls, they do not receive the proper health care and treatment they deserve as such, I am both infuriated and confused. Infuriated because, well obviously we are all human beings and all deserve to be treated as equals and have proper health care; confused because really men, if we are unhappy and sick and tired, how do you expect us to properly reproduce and then continue to raise the next generation of humans to be happy, healthy individuals? It's baffling, really.

- Whenever I paint, I put my left arm behind my back, and when I'm really focused on my art, I've been told that my breathing gets heavier. Walking barefoot is my petit bonheur, and trees are the most fascinating thing on this planet. I could eat a whole jar of peanutbutter slowly by the spoonful, especially if you sit me down in front of a movie, or two, or three. Sleeping with the window open makes for the best night's rest. I like to sit on the floor, even when a chair is available, which is ironic, because I really like to design furniture. The place where the Cleveland Indians play will always be Jacob's Field, and drawing with a pencil and paper will always beat out Photoshop. Cleaning my room with music blasting makes me happy. Funny, cause I've been unanimously voted the messiest in my house. When I think of the house I will own when I'm older, it involves a library, an art studio, floor-length windows with ivy crawling up the panes, and a roof I can easily climb on. It also involves secret passageways and those creepy paintings with spyholes for eyes. My kids are getting a treehouse whether they want one or not. As it turns out, I didn’t have to swim to Europe.
